Spin twins of India Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin are now on top of the world. According to the latest International Cricket Council rankings for test bowler, Jadeja has joined Ashwin as world’s leading bowlers.
Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin has finished with six wicket hauls in the second India vs Australia test in Bangalore. It was first time in the test match when four bowlers also turned six wicket hauls. These four bowlers included Australia’s Nathan Lyon and Josh Hazlewood.
India has won a dramatic test match by 75 runs after Australia were set a winning target of 188. It was on the wearing day 4 wicket on Bangalore’s Chinnaswamy Stadium.
One of the test match was marred by DRS controversies and some pantomime. In that Jadeja and Ashwin stood out with their performances.
Ravindra Jadeja’s seven wicket in the match, included a crucial six for 63 in the innings. It helped him to move up by one rank for reaching the top position for the first time in his career.
Last time two bowlers has shared the top spot was in April 2008. It was when Dale Steyn and Muttiah Murlidaran were at the top.
Ravichandran Ashwin is the fastest to 25 wicket hauls in the history of Indian cricket. Its eight wickets took him past spin legend Bishan Bedi’s tally of 266 wickets.
Thus making him the fifth highest wicket taker for India in tests with 269 wickets.
Australian spinner Nathan Lyon’s eight wickets in the match has lifted him two places to 16th rank. As compare to that his team’s left-arm spinner Steve O’Keefe and India pace bowler Umesh Yadav gained one place each.
It was for reaching the career best 28th and 29th places respectively.
