France and Denmark qualified for the round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup by playing out a 0-0 draw in a tepid Group C tie at the Luzinski Stadium here on Tuesday.

France was already through to the knockout stages before the game while Denmark needed a point to be sure of their qualification.

It was the first goalless match of the tournament after 36 games, with France coach Didier Deschamps resting several key players including Paul Pogba, Corentin Tolisso, and Blaise Matuidi, who are all at risk of suspension.

Peru beat Australia 2-0 in the other Group C game but finished with only three points as Denmark ended on five and France bagged seven points from three matches.
