The Senate Intelligence Committee report containing 6300 pages on the CIA interrogation programme described about the secret detention facilities known as “Black Sites”. The details were collected based on the interviews from current and former US officials.
Black Site is the place where harsh interrogation techniques are used, when the person is not providing full information during his normal detention process.
The site is controlled by the CIA and used by the U.S. government in its “War on Terror” to detain alleged unlawful enemy combatants.
There were various different techniques being used during the detention, e.g. repeated dipping of a terrorism suspect in tanks of ice water, which was used in Afghanistan detention site.
As per the report, the investigation was completely secret and was not known to the US government and the general public.
The first open statement about the Black sites was made by George W Bush in the year 2006.
