Textiles Minister Smriti Irani Inaugurates ‘VASTRA’ Fair in Jaipur

Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje inaugurated the 6th edition of the four-day international textile and apparel fair, ‘VASTRA’ in Jaipur.

Rajasthan Industries Minister, Rajpal Singh Shekhawat was the Guest of Honour. Addressing the function, the union minister said that the success of Textiles India 2017 is due to the combined efforts of the textile ministry and the apparel industry. She added the success has been bolstered by the fact that FDI in textiles industry has tripled in 2016-17.

The Textiles minister said that the central government understands that the sector needed additional support and so a special package for the apparel sector has been declared. She said that the Prime Minister’s initiative of Mudra Yojna has benefited the weavers community and their incomes have shown a tremendous increase within 60 days from the date of loan availed.

The minister also stated the facts of how the skill development has enhanced the quality of placements in the textile industry.
